Earth 2100 - A Review *****

Watched this last night on ABC. - LINK -  One hour and fifteen minutes of doom and gloom. The last 15 minutes was the flip side or how it could be IF this planet got it together and focused on dealing intelligently with the climate changes that will be happening come hell or high water. There will be hell and there will be high water - either or.

If you missed it and do wish to take it in, you can view it on the website.  It depicts the kind of place this planet may be for our grand kids and kids if you have little ones.  That is if we continue to bury our heads in the sand and think this land of plenty will continue on indefinitely.  It will not.

At 60, I can maybe count on about 30 more years. If I make it to 2045, I will be perplexed.(reality)  I have often wondered what it would be like far off into the future.  Granted, in the past, the scenarios offered never lived up to expectations.  So why should we believe what they are telling us now? Lots of experts from many different fields offer their best guess based on the direction things are going now.  Not a pretty picture.  Then they say, but wait - if we (the planet/governments) get on the same page, the next 50 yrs will be a lot different.

We are on the brink.  We cannot sing while Rome burns.  We must react immediately or the future for our descendants (if they survive) will be a return to the Dark Ages that will make the Old Dark Ages look nostalgic.

Can we do the hard work in front of us?  We must.  Will it be cheap and easy? Not at all.  Will it possibly get worse before it gets better?  Maybe.  Is change hard? Oh yeah!

To me this show is part of a bigger picture.  The media must use it's vast potential to persuade and educate.  Should we consider it a form of brainwashing similar to what happened after Pearl Harbor  - YES - the planet was at WAR. This is the same thing - we are fighting to change an ideology of consumption to a ideology of reverence for the planet.

There will be many more shows like this one.  Telling us the tough facts, telling us it will cost, telling us to buckle down. No matter what happens politically, the climate is about to show us Mother Nature is not amused with what we are doing.

Anyway - that is just my humble opinion.  We recycle, we drive fuel efficiently, we compost.  We eat less meat than we did.  I have never bought cases of bottled water!  All our lights are energy saving. I click off the power bar at the end of the day. If asked to do more in hopes that it will make a difference, we will.

Less IS more!

Keep dancing a new step!
