A good day for.....
Yeah, it is raining here too. Things are beginning to green up and the maple buds are turning into miniature leaves. Geese are still honking their way north. I managed to get my seeds in little seed trays yesterday. I sure hope something sprouts in about 10-15 days. By that time, the threat of frost will be gone All I will have to battle will be the dreaded hoards of black flies. Frank will erect the screen room on the deck so I can re pot in relative safety.
I do plan on buying some plants: cherry tomato, green pepper, rosemary, parsley, thyme, mint and basil. I am growing some sort of flowering bean plants. They will go downstairs, off the deck, encouraged to climb on the trellis. I have several sunflower seeds in as well. The squirrels will have a blast waiting to eat all the seeds come fall. That is if everything germinates according to plan. Often I just get a seed trays full of mold.
We are in semi austerity this time of year so spending money is frowned on. Neither of us really like to garden. We muddle around putting in that and this hoping it will take so the yard looks presentable. He mows the green stuff that grows so it resembles a lawn of sorts. He does toss grass seeds around to fill in the dead places that look sad. We plant begonias in half barrels and parts of the rock garden to fill it out. Day lilies are stuck in a few places as well. I don't have any rose bushes but I would love to have scads of Shasta daisies and black eyes Susan's. I need to get seeds to scatter. We also set up the compost bin. I feel better being able to recycle all that kitchen stuff that used to get tossed with the reg garbage.
I bought a new Hosta for the rock garden plus I am giving a Forsythia plant to Jaime for her 10th wedding anniversary on Friday. Hard to believe it's been 10 years. Where has the time gone?
The plan is to see Star Trek at a matinee, then go over to babysit while they go to the 7:00 pm showing. We are all big Star Trek fans. Not crazy fans although we do appreciate the saga and all the lore that goes with.
We have dancing tonight. Just so you know, our dancing is NOTHING like dancing with the stars. I am lucky if Frank remembers how to lead me from one week to the next. We do have a lot of fun. We laugh a great deal. I nearly peed my pants last week, he has me laughing so hard. He was making comments to me about the couple next to us. He is 6'3" and she is 5'2" - he is all legs, like John Cleese. At one point we looked over and I swear he looked like he was high stepping through tall grass pulling his little Fraulein with him. It was the Cha-Cha!
Apparently Twitter has an attention span of about a month. About the time it takes to lay a bunch of hatch-lings. I am keeping my twits under a 100 so as not to get totally confused. They are talking to the Twit guys on the View today.
